Melita Williams, MD was born and raised in the heart of Houston, TX and graduated with honors from the High School for Health Professions with a focused plan to become a medical doctor. Her passion for medicine was fueled by the many health challenges within her family. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Xavier University of Louisiana as a Chemistry/Pre-Med major, then completed her medical school training and residency in family medicine through the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. She accepted a commission in the United States Navy and after completing residency training in Beaumont, TX, she reported and served as a medical officer in the United States Navy in Barstow, CA at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. As an officer, she served her country and was honorably discharged after obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and she was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. After her military service she was in private practice at Healing Hands Family Medicine in Shreveport, LA. Changes in the healthcare system in Louisiana lead Dr. Williams to close her practice after 6 years and relocate to Plano, TX where she worked for Texas Health Physicians Group at Texas Health Family Care (Formerly Inova Family Physicians) for almost 7 years.
In order to further her desire to help patients in a more holistic way and in line with her passions, Dr. Williams, who is double Board Certified in Family Medicine and a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine transitioned from a conventional medical practice to holistic medicine in February of 2019. Her passion for helping patients find the root cause of their disease and learn preventative care to stay healthy after treatment led her to develop additional skills beyond traditional medical training. Dr. Williams completed Advanced Clinical Training In Reversing Cognitive Decline and is a certified RECODE physician. She is also certified by the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) in IV chelation therapy, which is the use of IV’s to remove dangerous toxins from the body. This is particularly valuable to RECODE patients suffering from Sub-Type 3 – Toxins – as a contributor to their cognitive impairment. Utilizing alternative modalities, including energy medicine, light therapy, herbs, and nutrient supplementation, Dr. Williams pulls on her knowledge of conventional, alternative medicine modalities, and spirituality to truly practice holistic medicine. Outside of her career as a physician, she is the wife of Pastor Ray Williams of Reset Church DFW, the mother of 2 beautiful children, and an author and speaker.
